On December 4, 2025, the Auragroup team conducted a field visit to the KINAZI Collection Center, an international avocado market located in Muyinga Province, Burundi, near the Burundi–Tanzania border. The visit aimed to understand the operations and impact of this rapidly growing agricultural hub.
The center operates a strong network of avocado-producing cooperatives under Burundi Avocado Marketing. Upon arrival, the team observed trucks unloading fresh avocados while others were being prepared for shipment. The site was alive with activity, as workers handled sorting, packaging, and transportation with remarkable efficiency.
Each day, 200 to 300 tons of different avocado varieties are exported to Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, and other international markets.
A key innovation of the KINAZI Collection Center is its one-stop service desk for export declarations, which significantly reduces administrative and customs delays. For both operators and clients, time is money.
Beyond facilitating trade, this avocado market creates substantial value for the country, generating up to 54 million BIF monthly revenue and providing employment to more than 500 people.
This visit highlighted how the KINAZI Collection Center not only supports agribusiness but also transforms livelihoods and strengthens the national economy.
